Funeral For A Friend

  • Name:Funeral For A Friend

  • Biography:
Welsh quintet Funeral for a Friend features vocalist Matt "The Rat" Davies, guitarists Kris Roberts and Darren Smith, bassist Gareth Davies, and drummer Randy Richards, and plays energized emo sparked with heavy metal and hardcore aggression. Starting in 2002, the group unleashed a series of EP's and singles (Between Order and Model, Four Ways to Scream Your Name, and "Juneau") that, surprisingly, wound up landing them on the cover of Kerrang! Magazine. All of this instant hype quickly paid off in the shape of a record deal with Warner Music U.K., which released Funeral for a Friend's debut full-length Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation in October 2003. Strangely, the LP was not given a concurrent U.S. release; instead, a seven-track mini-CD named Seven Ways to Scream Your Name (collecting non-album tracks from the earlier EPs) was issued in America by independent Ferret Records. Meanwhile, Funeral for a Friend embarked on a series of high-profile touring engagements, including a series of European dates opening for Iron Maiden. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide Written by Ed Rivadavia
